House captains
Our House Captains play a vital leadership role in our school community. They take responsibility for collecting house points from each class and proudly share the weekly totals during our Friday Celebration Assembly, building excitement and healthy competition across the school. Throughout the year, our House Captains support key house events, particularly Sports Day, where they encourage their teams, organise activities and demonstrate excellent sportsmanship. Being a House Captain helps children develop important skills in organisation, public speaking and teamwork whilst fostering school spirit and pride.
School Council
Our School Council gives pupils a real voice in shaping our school. Each class democratically elects two representatives who bring their classmates’ ideas and views to regular School Council meetings. The council consults on important matters that affect school life, including fundraising for charity, developing our school values, improving our school environment and promoting healthy living. School Council members have an important responsibility: they discuss ideas with their class before meetings and report back afterwards, ensuring everyone’s voice is heard. Members need to be good listeners, confident speakers, well-organised and committed to attending meetings, which sometimes take place during playtimes. We encourage all children to think carefully about who they vote for, as School Council members are involved in making important decisions that benefit our whole school community.
Play Leaders
Our Play Leaders help make breaktimes and lunchtimes fun, active and inclusive for everyone. They arrive early to set up equipment and activities, then create and lead games that children of all ages can enjoy together. Play Leaders take responsibility for looking after playground equipment, making sure it’s used safely and tidied away properly. This role helps children develop leadership skills, creativity and a sense of responsibility whilst ensuring that playtimes are enjoyable and engaging for the whole school. Our Play Leaders are fantastic role models who help create a positive playground atmosphere where everyone can join in and have fun.
Reading Ambassadors
Our Reading Ambassadors are passionate about books and reading, and they share this enthusiasm across our school. They manage our reading shed, ensuring it’s welcoming and well-organised, and take special care of our library area, keeping books tidy and helping other children find books they’ll love.
Reading Ambassadors also support younger children by reading with them, helping to build their confidence and love of reading. They take an active role in fundraising initiatives to buy new books and improve reading resources across the school, ensuring all our pupils have access to exciting and engaging reading materials.
This role helps children develop leadership skills whilst making a real difference to reading culture and enjoyment throughout our school.
